2006 ESTATE RISERVA "BELLICAIA" - Paso Robles

This Cabernet based super-Tuscan keeps getting better and better. We aged this wine for 40 months in French oak to tame the Cab's tannins, enhance complexity, and to add slightly more oak influences.  The result is that "Bellicaia" (BELL-i-KY-UH) is an absolutely lovely wine. Old world complexity abounds on the palate. Delicious flavors tickle the mouth in waves of cherry, earth, plum, and black currant. The spices are there too, but more on the mid-palate. Bone dry with complex tannins make this red very ageable. It should continue to improve with time in the bottle.
